This week's vocabulary:
bottom: the lowest part
cheated: to do business or play in a way that is not honest
clever: bright, intelligent, having a quick mind
crops: plants grown for food
lazy: not willing to work or be active
partners: members of a company or firm who share the risks and benefits of a business
wealth: riches
Each week the students will write their words in "7-up" sentences. This means they will use each word in a sentence and the sentence must be at least 7 words long or more. It is helpful for the students to write different types of sentences (declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, imperative).
This week, as we begin the story "Tops and Bottoms", we will continue to study context clues, with a focus on antonym clues. We will also learn about author's purpose (persuade, inform, and entertain.
